in the last weekMaya Chan is THE secret spot for cruisers arriving at Costa Maya. Located a few miles south of the port, this family run resort is the quiet getaway you have been seeking. Enjoy a finely cooked meal, bask in the sun, enjoy kayaking or snorkeling, Maya Chan is a perfect location for an excursion away from your cruise ship. Bonus for dog lovers, the establishment has a few furry friends ready to great you. Say hi to Abby who spent some time with us getting lots of pets and some belly rubs. Getting to Maya Chan was easy. We walked through the port to the exit and a short walk to the replica Mayan pyramid and met with the Maya Chan staff awaiting our arrival. Maya Chan provides transportion from their meeting point. It was a short trip through town south along the beachfront to Maya Chan. We were greeted by the fantastic staff, shown around the facility, and taken to our bungalow were we relaxed for the day. We were offered a massage that I took up the offer for and it was worth it. It was $25 but absolutely worth it. Throughout the day the staff did an amazing job seeing to our every need, drinks and food were provided. Our lunch we had freshly prepared tacos, made on sight. Our options were steak, pork, chicken, and fish with loads of options. It was magnificent. The staff was on top of the cruise lines times and ensured we had transportation back to port with plenty of time to spare. Highly recommend you give Maya Chan a try next time you arrive at Costa Maya. You will not be disappointed.

in the last weekWe're returning visitors to Maya Chan, and it never disappoints! Since our last trip, they've added a dedicated waiting area outside the gate near the decorative ruin, which is a nice touch while you wait. The ride to the beach is bumpy, but absolutely worth it — don't let that deter you! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted immediately and made to feel genuinely welcome. Each group gets their own dedicated space — ours had lounge chairs, a daybed, an umbrella, and a shaded area, so there was no shortage of comfortable spots to settle in. Drinks were served throughout the day, and we were welcomed with chips, guacamole, and salsa to start. Lunch was a chef's kiss — seriously delicious and very plentiful. A taco spread with steak, chicken, carnitas, and pescado, plus toppings, beans, and more. We were not leaving hungry! We also both got massages, which were relaxing and peaceful — the perfect way to round out a beach day. And a couple of practical details worth mentioning: the bathrooms were clean, and all ice and water is filtered, which is a big peace of mind bonus when you're visiting from a cruise ship. If you're a cruise passenger stopping in Costa Maya, Maya Chan is a must. We'll be back again!

a week agoCruise rule #1: if you find a quiet beach where someone brings you amazing food while you relax in a cabana… you’ve officially won the port stop. Maya Chan Beach Resort has become our favorite place to escape the crowds when the cruise ship docks. Instead of fighting thousands of passengers for a beach chair, you end up in a peaceful little slice of paradise where the staff somehow makes you feel like family the moment you arrive. The food is fantastic and keeps coming throughout the day, and the service is the kind that makes you wonder why every beach day can’t be this easy. Between the shaded cabanas, hammocks, and the calm beach, it’s the perfect place to slow down and actually enjoy the port. We’ve visited a lot of cruise beaches over the years, but this one has become a tradition. Some cruise stops you explore… this is the one you plan your cruise around. 🏝️🛳️
