Utility Payment & Water / Gas Service Locations in Cancun

Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE) — Electricity Service & Bill Payment

  • Main payment / customer‑service office
    • Address: various CFE / “CFEmático” offices around Cancún (e.g. payment‑point at region / local branch — check CFE’s online directory).
    • Phone / Contact: general CFE contact via local CFE customer‑service line(s) — check your latest bill for reference.
    • Services: pay electricity bills, request new electric connection, report outages or service problems. CFE is the responsible electricity distributor in Cancún (and all of Quintana Roo).
    • Notes: Since water pumping/distribution in Cancún depends on electricity, CFE outages may affect water supply.

Aguakan — Water Utility & Water‑Supply Service (Potable Water / Water Bills / Water Delivery)

  • Main Water Utility Company (Potable Water, Sewer, Water Bills)
    • Contact: (998) 891 4860 (Aguakan customer‑service line for Cancún / Benito Juárez)
    • Services: potable water supply, sewage / sanitation service, billing & customer service.
    • Payment & Account Management: Through official Aguakan channels: online payment, “oficina virtual”, or by calling / attending a customer‑service center.
    • Important note: Water supply depends on functioning electric‑powered pumping — when CFE cuts power, water distribution may be temporarily interrupted.
  • Alternative / Private Water‑Delivery (Water Trucks / Bottled Water / Pipas) — for Potable Water when Municipal Supply is Unreliable
    • Pipas Gasparín — Water‑truck / potable‑water delivery service.
      • Address: Av. Chichén Itzá, SM 63, Cancún, QR 77513
      • Phones: (998) 238‑0900, (984) 119‑4974, (984) 132‑5315
      • Hours: Mon–Fri 07:00–19:00; Sat 07:00–19:00; Sun 08:00–14:00
      • Services: Delivery of potable water (pipas / water‑tank / jugs) to homes, businesses, or hotels. Good option when municipal water pressure or quality is unreliable — which, according to recent reports, happens frequently in Cancún.

⚠️ What’s Important to Know (Context & Caveats)

  • Because water supply by Aguakan is dependent on electricity from CFE — when electricity is cut, water service may be interrupted or highly reduced. This is a recurring issue in Cancún.
  • Many residents report water‑supply instability, leading to reliance on water‑delivery (pipas, bottled water) instead of tap water — especially in certain neighbourhoods.
  • Gas (for cooking or domestic LPG) in Cancún is usually handled by private distributors or gas‑cylinder providers, not by municipal utility companies; there is no centralized “gas by public utility” infrastructure reference that covers all households, so there is no reliable public listing for a “gas‑utility office” like CFE or Aguakan.
  • Because of this, for gas or additional water supply (via pipas), it’s best to rely on private vendors — check by neighborhood, read reviews, and keep contact numbers.
