in the last weekI made a reservation for a larger sized SUV for our family of 5 (all adults). One of the reasons I chose to make the reservation with America was because it seemed to be straight forward and all inclusive. Their website specifically states a list of advantages for renting with them and one of those advantages is "insurance included". When we arrived to pick up our vehicle they said they were going to have switch us to a seven passenger vehicle, and that it was actually an upgrade. However, the vehicle was a Chevy Captiva. The last row has two seats on the floor of the vehicle in the back and when in use there is barely any room for luggage. My youngest, who is 18 years old and 5'8" had to sit crammed into the back of this tiny vehicle buried in 5 carry on bags of luggage stacked around her. The vehicle was quite banged up and I was informed that we had coverage for an accident but if the windshield was broken, or the door was dinged by someone else's door or there was a scratch from backing into anything those things would not be covered and we would be responsible for that damage. He mentioned it multiple times and I decided to give into the extra full coverage because I could tell by the way he mentioned our liability multiple times that I was going to have to be prepared to prove every mark was not put there by us. Therefore, what was originally going to cost $180 USD ended up costing $310.44 USD. Overall we were very unhappy with the vehicle and felt scammed by the push to carry "full coverage" when the website claimed that their price was "all inclusive."
